Six years ago, five handy guys got together in a Grandview garage to play some tunes, and the group “The Handymen” were born. A mechanic, a carpenter, a property manager, a video media guru, and an architect joined together to play a blend of original and cover tunes ranging from folk to country rock to blues.
The Handymen are Alan Boivin on rhythm guitar and vocals, Shane Rylott on lead guitar and vocals, Scott King on bass and pedal steel, Tom Mitchell on harmonica, and Jim Myers on drums.
Alan has recorded two CDs of original songs at Ed Tree’s studio with some of the players from Dwight Yoakam’s band. One of Alan’s songs, “Can’t Quit Loving You” was in a Miramax movie. Recorded by Johnny Penn, it received radio airplay in Germany.
These guys are long time Topanga residents who have served the community in various organizations and in various capacities.
